The municipality of Almada selected the Lasso Concrete "Lioz" semi-underground container solution for the project of replacing three deposition points for mixed and recyclable waste in the Costa da Caparica seafront. The installation involved three sets of four containers each, in a total of 12 semi-underground containers that were installedin the summer in this region of the Portuguese coast in the south of Lisbon, and have been operating since then.
These units came to replace the previously existing containers, which were uninstalled because the winds and sands characteristic of their location made them inoperable, having to be sealed for most of the year.
According to a source from the municipality of Almada, "These waste disposal points are working perfectly, with the new Lasso semi-underground containers. These equipments are highly resistant to the sea salt and the strong winds and fit perfectly in the space where they were installed. They exceeded our expectations and we are very satisfied with this option".
Lasso Concrete semi-underground containers offer numerous advantages for installation and adaptation to this coastal zone: its coating fits perfectly in the surrounding environment, being highly resistant to the sea and the erosion of the wind. The height of the container and its polyethylene lid facilitate the deposition, while preventing sand from entering the container.
